About The Artist
 |
I
use oil paint on canvas or hand-stretched hemp/linen, or hemp/silk.
I love the natural, uneven texture of the hemp/linen. I try
to preserve the surface by building thin layers of wash. The
hemp/silk requires four coats of gesso and has a batik quality. |
I am always
on the lookout for a compelling landscape whether I am in
the city or countryside. I am more interested in the mood
of a place than a photographic interpretation.
I strive
to capture the fleeting moments of twilight, the sky just
before the storm, or the wet earth after the rain. My goal
is to give an honest impression of the light, color and contour
of the land I see.
To
me, Wisconsin is a banquet of changing weather. It is the
perfect place to be a painter.
